The Guild 1 Remake: Town Hall Politics & Council Offices
Climb the political ladder in The Guild 1 Remake Europa 1410. Complete guide to city council offices, election voting, bribery, and blackmail schemes.
In The Guild 1 Remake: Europa 1410, wealth alone will never protect your dynasty from jealous rivals, vindictive city judges, or crippling municipal tariffs. To truly control your destiny, you must enter the political arena of the Town Hall, contest municipal elections, and secure seats on the City Council.
Holding office grants unique powers: altering city tax rates, commanding the town watch, embargoing rival workshops, and granting your family legal immunity from prosecution.
1. The Municipal Office Hierarchy
The Town Council is organized into three distinct tiers of administrative power. You must hold an office in the lower tier before campaigning for higher positions:
[ Sovereign / Prince-Archbishop ]
▲
[ Sovereign Mayor (Bürgermeister) ]
▲
┌────────────────────────┴────────────────────────┐
[ Chief Judge ] [ Commander of the Guard ]
▲ ▲
[ Town Treasurer ] [ Master of the Mint ]
▲ ▲
[ Market Bailiff ] [ Informer / Jailer ]
Key Council Privileges by Office
- Informer / Night Watchman (Tier 1): Grants access to criminal reports and allows you to spy on rival dynasty movements.
- Market Bailiff (Tier 1): Allows you to inspect rival market stalls for counterfeit goods and confiscate illegal cargo.
- Town Treasurer (Tier 2): Sets municipal sales taxes and levies property assessments across all city districts.
- Commander of the Guard (Tier 2): Orders city guards to patrol your warehouses or deploy guards to harass rival trade carts.
- Chief Judge (Tier 3): Presides over public courtroom trials, determines sentencing, and issues execution decrees.
- Sovereign Mayor (Tier 3): Holds the ultimate municipal veto, declares city holidays, and appoints ambassadors to foreign duchies.
2. Winning Elections: Bribes, Banquets & Secret Ballots
Council elections take place at the Town Hall whenever an incumbent dies, is convicted of high treason, or steps down. The voting electorate consists solely of current sitting council members in higher and parallel offices:
1. The Bribery Ledger
Directly gifting silver to council electors is the most straightforward method to secure votes. However, offering a bribe that is too small insults the elector and reduces their approval rating. Gauge an official’s greed attribute before presenting a purse of gold.
2. Hosting Town Banquets
Rent the banquet hall at the Grand Inn and invite all voting council members. Serving roast fowl, fine Rhine wine, and hiring minstrel musicians can boost collective favor across the entire council by up to 35 points in a single evening.
3. Blackmail & Coercion
If an elector refuses to cooperate, deploy private spies or hire rogues from the Thieves’ Guild to follow them after dark. Catching an elector visiting an illegal brothel, accepting contraband, or forging trade ledgers yields Blackmail Letters. Presenting this evidence forces the elector to cast their vote in your favor.
